The Asperger’s Support Group is a group for family members, caregivers, and adults on the autism spectrum to discuss Asperger’s-related issues. On nights where the group dynamics warrant, the group splits into a “children-focused” and an “adult-focused” discussion.

When:  meets the third Thursday of every month from 7:00-9:00pm

Note:  The Rockrimmon Library can be a bit difficult to find.  The Rockrimmon Library is located in the Safeway Village Shopping Center at the intersection of  S. Rockrimmon Blvd. and Vindicator Drive.  You can enter the shopping center from either Rockrimmon Blvd. or Vindicator Drive.  Village Center Drive (the street address of the library) starts and ends in the shopping center parking lot.  The library is located at the far west end of the shopping center, to the south of Safeway.

Hi, May I know what the meeting is like? My son is 24, high intellect Asperger’s. But he is staying home right now. Is there someone like him in this group?

    • AACAdmin says:

Hi Fila – edited my original response a few minutes after posting (I originally thought your inquiry was regarding our autistic adult social – my apologies).

We have a mix of individuals in the group. There are a few younger adults (ages 25-35) with Asperger’s Syndrome that attend on a regular basis. Lately, we’ve had more AS adults than parents/family members attending the group. Your son is welcome to check out the group to see whether it’s a good fit for him.

  2. Fila Park says:

I thought you guys meet on the 3rd Thursday. So is it that June’s meeting is moved to June 30th while May’s is cancelled?

    • AACAdmin says:

Please see the edited reply above (I edited it a few minutes after posting – I mistakenly thought you were asking about a different support group when I first responded). Yes, the Asperger’s Support Group meets on the third Thursday of every month. The next meeting is on Thursday, 5/15. Apologies for the confusion.

      • Fila Park says:

Then what’s the group that will meet on June 30th? The one that May’s meeting will be cancelled?

        • AACAdmin says:

The other group is our Autistic Adult Social. It meets on the last Monday of every month from 7-9pm at the East Library. In May, that falls on Memorial Day (5/26), and the library is closed. So we are canceling May’s session, and the group will meet again the last Monday of June (6/30). There are several individuals your son’s age (young adults with Asperger’s) in the group, so he may be interested in checking that group out as well. For additional details, all of our support group information (meeting times/locations as well as more detailed descriptions of each group) can be found on our Support Groups page.
